- CFC was founded in September of 1982!
- CFC was founded by Kay Ekstrom and a group of Christians from several local churches in the Phoenix area! Compelled by their beliefs, they developed the vision of a Christian social services agency that would serve children through Christian families by providing foster care, pregnancy counseling, and adoption services.
- In October 1982, CFC became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization!
- In December 1982, CFC placed the first child for adoption!
- In 1988, CFC added child and family counseling services
- In 1989, CFC expanded services to Tucson!
- Everyone who works at CFC is a professing follower of Jesus Christ!
- Did you know CFC has 10 programs?! Foster Care, Infant Adoption, DCS Adoption, Arizona Family Counseling, Family Care Learning, Hand in Hand Pregnancy Counseling, STRONG Families for Children, Family Care KIDS, Mentoring, and our Pathfinder Program.
- CFC has been voted Best Christian Workplace for nine consecutive years (since 2013!)
- CFC has three locations (Tucson, Phoenix, and Prescott)
- CFC’s mission is to strengthen families and serve at-risk children in the name of Jesus Christ!
- CFC has two thrift store locations in Tucson and Phoenix!
- CFC has served more than 20,000 children since 1982!
- CFC has had a total of 874 employees over the past 40 years!
- Currently, 118 people work for CFC!
- Over 40 years, CFC has raised over $55,629,281!
- CFC currently works with about 50 local churches!
- CFC’s Director of Quality and Continuous Improvement, Susan Dudley has worked at CFC the longest! (Since June 1984!)
- In 1995, CFC became a member of the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability.
- CFC became accredited through the Council on Accreditation in 2001. COA attests that an organization meets the highest national standards in delivering the best quality services to the community it serves.
- In 2007, Kay Ekstrom retired and Mark Upton was selected as the new President/CEO of CFC.
- In 2007, CFC expanded services to Prescott! CFC opened a Northern Arizona branch office in Prescott, thus going state-wide in providing services.
- Over the past 40 years, CFC has placed 619 children with adoptive families.
- Scottsdale Bible Church was the main church behind the creation of CFC.
- In June 2010, CFC began using our current logo the “Hand of God’s protection”
- In 2011, Mark Upton received Angels in Adoption National Award for CFC.
- In 2013, The Arizona Foster Care Tax Credit was enacted by the State.
- Ken Copeland was our first mentor on September 30, 2017
- In 2020, CFC launched Arizona Family Counseling! Which is the private pay arm of our clinical services, serving children and families. This now includes adult counseling and Family Coaching.
- Did you know?! Arizona Family Counseling now offers telehealth counseling sessions!
- In 2021, CFC launched the first Family Care KIDS Preschool! Family Care KIDS is an early childhood learning center, capable of serving 128 kids from six weeks to five years old. All of the staff at our school profess a love for children, Jesus and are all trauma-informed. It’s located on the property of First Christ Church in Phoenix.
